Do you agree or disagree: University students should be required to take basic science classes even they are not part of the field of the study.

Should students be required to take basic science courses even they are not part of the field of the study, as some people believe here? I , naturally , give an answer "yes" 。

From time immemorial, basic science classes are definitely crucial to our development, at every stage of life. There's not doubt that our global village has filled with amazing things. If students only seek knowledge for its own sake,in a single area, accurately speaking, and now, attempting to through this way can not catch the rapidly and unpredictably changing world. However, students have the ability to take their own field courses and basic science classes both. Additionally, If we did not study the basic science classes such as math, physics, etc, we would not get some of today's achievements.  we would not have found cures for dangerous diseases if we did not have medicine. Even thought, we might not doctors, without such a study, our world be in serious trouble of poor health and living standards.

Let's assume that all of us are less of basic science knowledge, how can we make our lives better? Like a musician, my intimate, music is her field, and she pays all the attention to music when she was a student. Guess! What happened? Of course, she became a musician, but, she can not do other things in a effective way. When some of our classmates talk together, she always wordless. Sometimes we have wished to understand the heart of human, we have wished to know why the stars shine, and we have tired to apprehend the pythagorean power by which number holds sway above the flux, a little of these we have achieve, but through discussed we have found many things having fun, all of these can help us relax, and make our friendship deeply. We all are sharing the basic happiness, except her.I believe only this simple example can bear out that how the basic science important for us.

Admittedly, basic science classes are necessary, but not unique. At present, also, people should engage in their main field and try to do their best and combined with basic science knowledge. Because so many fields of study are related, you never know when knowledge from one area will be helpful in another.

Generally speaking, no matter what we do, no matter where we are, searching for more knowledge in a variety kinds of area and embrasing new things are immutable facts, will guide human to a colorful and successful life.

Everything or nothing, a traditional topic in philosophy, is also controversial in many other fields because as some scholars believe,when you have everything,you have nothing. Similar situation happens in study area,which including whether the university students should be required to take basic science classes even they are not part of the field of the study because they are useful.Being a student,myself,I always consider such study should not be concluded in students' works.

The society which are we all living in,foremost,needs everyone to do his/her best in his/her specific area by the reason that the division of the society classes. A man who does outstanding in advertising could not do the same in architecture but not for the reason that he/she is not smart enough, which is proved by all the current remarkable workers.Jenny,my friend,who has won tons of times awards of fashion, cannot edit her own design sketch on computer instead of by hand even though she was taught more than dozens of time, which would not be a reason that calling her stupid.

Taking lots of classes, furthermore, especially in science area would need much more energy which is one valuable factor for the people live in nowadays,who are suffering by all the pressures from the modern world. Science classes, the developing field by numerous generations' study, have already referred to so many areas that people with limited energy cannot learn them all in one life even though just the basic level. Students in Zhejiang University, according to a research, 70% of them are failing from more than one class that they are not major in. They will not be able to use such knowledge for a great chance after the graduation, which is the main point that they should not waste energy on those areas.

On the other side, students learning in other science areas have some benefits which including helping them doing better when they are cooperating with people from others. The problem,nonetheless,still has because of the basic knowledge they learned from university could not help when they are working with other-field people for most of the time.

Learning all well is learning no well.Instead of trying so hard on some areas that are helpless and we probably will never learn well, as a conclusion,we could save our energy on one specific area we could do much better which would help our society much more.

Should all college students take basic science classes even if their major have little, or even no connection with science? Some people may argue that it is entirely unnecessary because time and energy spent in these academic studies is totally useless and life-wasting. However, in my point of view, I stand that all university students should be required to take several basic science classes.

Learning basic science is beneficial to broaden one's perspective. Take biology as an example. When we find the variety and complexity of life, it is able for us to apply this principle to other areas, such as analyzing the behaviors of different people. Because there are so many kinds of life in nature, we have to treat them according to their different characters. Of course, it is conducive to the study of humanity and philosophy.

In addition, basic science is the foundation of a number of other applied sciences such as construction, medical field or engineering. If students prefer to pursue their future in these fields, it is almost a must for them to master relative knowledge in basic science like math, physics and chemistry. And it is nearly impossible for a student who is poor in these basic sciences to accomplish his/her academic career well.

What is more, to learn basic science is also an effective measure to promote the communication between distinctive studies. Nowadays the interaction between diverse academies are increasingly frequent, people who know more about numerous different kinds of knowledge and information have become dramatically popular than ever before. For instance, an art student who has an understanding of digital field is well accepted by many employers, since they are able to use computers to deal with their paintings. Therefore, students who take basic science classes are not only enhance the communication between academics, but prone to gain more job opportunities.

In short, judging from the compelling evidences provided, it should be safe to draw the conclusion that it is dispensable and vital for any university student to take at least one basic science class, even though they are not part of the field of the study.

Nowadays, it is a wide debate about the issue that whether university students should learn some basic science knowledge even they are not part of the field of study. Believing that students should learn other basic science knowledge, these people argue that a wide range of knowledge could bring more opportunities in their future. On the other hand, those who think students should study much deeper in the field of the study believe that specialists are more successful in the professional fields. In my own opinion, I agree with the former view. And then my arguments for the point are listed as follows.

The most important reason for my view is that the people who have a wide range of knowledge meet the requirement of the modern society. Following the development of science and technology, there is an increasing demand for people who are able to take in a great area at a glance. There is, in other words, a demand for people who are capable of seeing the whole forest rather than the trees, of making overall judgment. So I think it is necessary for university students to understand other basic science knowledge which is not part of the field of their main study.

Another important aspect is that students can have more choice in searching themselves interest if they take certain number of other basic science classes. Many students may choose their major in haste and don’t know what they really interest at the beginning of attending university. If they take other basic science classes, they could find their interest fields and be able to timely change their major. As a consequence, they can learn in an active way.

All in all, I think that university students should be required to take basic science classes even they are not part of the field of the study, because a wide spectrum of knowledge can not only bring more opportunities to students, but also help them figure out what they really like to do.

Basic science subjects could enhance students whole qualities and benefits the development of them, however, take too much subjects, especially those which have no relation with students’ professions, isn’t always a good thing.

First of all, everybody’s energy is limited, no one can afford too much classes. There are lots of major subject classes undergraduates should take, even though they do their best, they still, however, fail to grasp all knowledge. Simultaneously, most of their time that is used to learn major subjects is occupied by other irrelative curricula. As a result, exams of their professional curricula fail. Another deficiency of taking too much class is the fact that knowledge probably can be forgotten because seldom undergrads have opportunities to connect them to life or work. Students who graduated from universities usually work in their professional field, whereas knowledge that has no relation to their profession and far away from life initially reserve in their minds and then gradually forget.

Moreover, the motive to study derives from interesting, but, there is less probability that students are fascinated to every curriculum. If learning under condition that there is no interesting, the process just only by dedicate with boring and painful. They don’t learn with their hearts in those classes with an outcome that they definitely fail to passing exams. Even though they do their best and get a good score in exams, whereas, they just study for exams rather than really grasp knowledge. They also forget all of knowledge probably just needing several weeks, or even one week. You ask them answer a question that they did it in last exam, they probably have no idea about it.

Basic curricula, nevertheless, expand not only undergraduates’ horizon and make them know more about the world they live in, but also perfect a view of their life and the world. Take a subject of history as an example. It provides for us a chance to recognize how our ancestors lived in prehistory and how the world developed. However, students who take basic curriculum that is out of their profession are supposed to be under the condition that they have sufficient time, or, studying is meaningless. In a word, it is rather superficial to say whether students should take basic science classes including those that aren’t part of their profession or not.

"Knowledge is power". All kinds of knowledge can divided into two groups, basic science and liberal arts. Students are facing with the choice that whether they take science classes or not. From where I stand, I prefer university students should be required to take basic science classed even they are not part of the field.

To begin with, basic science classes study can greatly develop the independent thinking ability and logical thinking ability. Those ability are exert a dominate effect in our life. Firstly, let us get down to fundamental of the basic science. Basic science, when I was start to learning it, I have to solve and figure out a lot of difficult issues and problems. Only can I do is coherent all the aspect of knowledge and focus all my attention on it. I will not stop working until the moment I figure it out. Besides, during this process, I had combine different aspects of knowledge together, and searching my answer from them. It is no doubt that these ability are essential in our daily life, hardly can I imagine that if students have not take basic science classes that they surely would lack these abilities in their life.

Furthermore, basic science can being used in every where and it plays a vital role in our daily life. I can think of no better illustration as following case. The water of the lake is frozen, I saw a people running through the ice, suddenly, the ice was broken, and he fall into the lake. Fortunately, the worker in the park saved him. But I noticed that when the people try to help him, they were laid on a big piece of board. That motion reminded me the physical classes, "The larger surface contact with a subject, the less pressure is loaded on the object". I consider the man who dropped into the lake must have not taken basic science classes in his school time. Science can help us in our life even save our life.

Admittedly, required all the university students to take science classes may have their own disadvantages. Not everyone have great interest on science, so, they may spend a hard time through classes. However, science classes can great enhance our independent thinking ability, logical thinking ability, to some extent, it can save our life. Now we can draw the conclusion that the merits of taking science classes overshadow its disadvantages. So, I still cling to my point.
