041 Some people think that human needs for farming, housing, and industry are more important than saving land for endangered animals. Do you agree or disagree with this point of view? Why or why not?Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
When it comes to the issue of land use, some people advocate that human needs for farming, housing, and industry are more important than saving land for endangered animals. Admittedly, the number of population is increasing while the area of land is decreasing, however, we should not neglect the fact that the earth is the home of animals at the same time. Human beings have a special responsibility to save the land for them, particularly, for endangered animals.
Saving for endangered animals is superior in several ways, of which perhaps the most fundamental is that endangered animals contribute significantly to the ecological balance. Every creature in the nature is connected so strongly that the absence of one kind of animals may destroy the ecological balance, or even worse, incur many species on the verge of extinction. A ecologist ever teached me that, tiger, which now is protected, plays an substatial role in the ecological balance and the number of tiger groups is an important sign of balance. Given tigers are extinct, the dedicate balance is destroyed dramatically, which is also harm to human beings ourselves.
The impacts of endangered animals on the zoologic and ecological research also deserve a mention here. If a kind of endangered animals distincted, it is really difficult to imagine their image and lifestyle. Take the research for thylacine for example. Thylacine is with a unique image—a wolf-like head, a tiger-like streaked trunk and moreover a kangaroo-like bag. But actually, thylacines have been absent for nearly 70 years, thus we have no way to observe them, not mention to research their lifestyle.
Of course, arguments will be raised against my decision. Some people might argue that the human needs for farming, housing, and industry are preconditions for our living. They may be right but we shoul not meet our needs at the sacrifice of the endangered animals. There are other approaches like science and technology. Well if a certain species of endangered animals were extinct, they are impossible to recur.
在此先行谢过~
