[color=black]When it comes to whether to teach the students knowledge or to help them gain confidence is more important for the teacher, the discussion of this issue among individuals and in society as a whole has come into vague during the last decade. The speaker claims that to give confidence is more crucial. I disagree with this statement and there are several reasons as fallows supporting my point of view.[/color]

[color=black]The main reason for my propensity to specific knowledge is that teaching knowledge is the essential work which should be put in the first position for every teacher. It is teachers who give the students the specific knowledge to understand the world, the society and the students themselves. With good understanding about the subjects mentioned above, students lead their lives in an easy way. Thus, teaching knowledge plays the most important role in teacher's work.[/color]

[color=black]Another essential factor why I advocate teaching specific knowledge is that to learn knowledge well is crucial for every student. Without enough knowledge, a pupil cannot go into high school, the high school students will not be admitted to university, students in university cannot get their degree and eventually, they are not able to get ideal jobs. In a word, he/she could not lead a better life if he/she ignored the importance of knowledge. [/color]

[color=black]In addition, in my perspective, these two aspects do not exclusively contradict to each other. Confidence can be gained when students have learned enough knowledge. For example, if the students learned well in math class, he may get a high mark in the math exam and answer the teacher's questions in a better way during classes. All of these could bring confidence to him. However, only with confidence, he/she will never do well in his exam.[/color]

[color=black]Admittedly, the significance of confidence cannot be ignored. With confidence, students are likely to suspect what the teacher taught them and do some researches themselves. As a result, they may learn more than the teacher have expected. However, there are many ways to obtain confidence other than gained by the help from teachers. [/color]

[color=black]To sum up, when referring to what a teacher should do, the significance of teaching specific knowledge carries more weight than the importance of helping the students to obtain confidence.[/color][size=9pt][/size]
