65Should a city try to preserves its old , historic buildings or destroy them and replace them with modern buildings?
People always regarded the old buildings as the pearl to the city, which I take leave to doubt, to some extent, the majority of the old buildings are out of date, occupy a great many of places and lack of specific facilities.

It is the facade of the old building has a negative effect on the whole arrangement of the city. With the evolution of the understanding of the beauty, the opinion about the outlines of a building has changed a lot. Instead of preserving the flavor of the past, the old building put the government in a dilemma, as many people would concern, to keep the whole style of the building just like the old one or not. However, for the aesthetic appreciation continues along the road of the knowledge expansion., to all appearances, numerous old building’s aspects are out of date. for example, there is an one-hundred-year vernacular dwelling stood in the business district of my city. Regardless of the long history, the old fashioned appearance and the shabby walls can not accord the whole city at all, which force us to replace it with another chic building.

The senescence of the majority of the facilities is another obvious disadvantages of the old building, to some extent, it is quite difficult to find out the aging areas of the electrical appliance accurately, and more importantly, the fixation of the equipment would cost a very expense. If one person just insist to live in an old house without specific mending, he / she may suffers a lot, say, power cut, the discontinuous water appliance, and the lack of enough light which attribute to the inappropriate structure, and these questions will unavoidable result in the inconvenience of life..

The increase valid of land forces the government to use it more efficiency, whereas seldom the historical building are fashioned with more than one story, which means a great deal of space are wasted. It is not difficult to calculated that on the same space, compared to the old one more than seven families can live. Under this situation, replacing the old building with the modern one is a much wiser choice.

In conclusion, with the increasing requirements of the land and the fashion, replacing the old building with the modern building is not only save a very expense, but also benefits the local people a lot.
