While some people who oppose the idea that television has destroyed communication among friends and family claim that television is one of the most important inventions and with its wide availability it has become one of the most powerful means of communication, in my opinion, television decreases the communication time among people and thus brings communication destruction.

Since television was born in last century, it has been more and more popular with children, adults and the old because of the decreasing price of television set and increasingly prosperous programs. Most people are even addicted to it. Investigation shows that the average American child spends almost as much time watching TV as does he or she in school. However, we all have only 24 hours a day and it is clear that the more time one spends on watching television, the less time one does with his or her family and friends. Children often walk directly to the TV set and press the button as soon as they step into their home, rather than tell their parents what has happened in school or whether they are happy or not, and they have no communication with parents. They don’t go to ask his or her friends play games together, so after a long time they even have no good friends.

Similar occasions don’t happen only to the children, all too often that adults lie in sofa and watch TV programs after a whole day working. They are so tired that they are only willing to stay still at home and in comparison with chatting with friends or family members programs on TV seem to be more attractive. Moreover, sometimes the film is too attractive for them to listen to their children, and the words go in one ear and out the other.

From what have been mentioned above, it is not difficult to deduce this summary that television is the obstacle of communication among people including children and adults.
