0H(V D`{      Today I want to talk to about wasps(黄蜂) and their nests .You ‘ll recall that biologists divide species of wasps into two group solitary and social.
x*o zq"eg;`0G1j       Solitary wasps as the name implies ,do not live together with other wasps .In most species the male and femal get together only to mate and then female does all the work of building the nest and providing food for the offspring by herself solitary wasps unusually make nest in the ground and they separate the chambers(室,房间) for individual offspring with bits(少块) of grass stone or mud whatever is handy.        Most social wasp make nest of paper .

Now we’re entring kangaroo country .In all there are more than fifty different species of Kangroo and the advantage of zoos like ours is that you see them in their natrual habitat .The ones we have all live in the grassland .
e t{-D6]u-M$R On my right you can see one of the biggest types the red Kangaroo ,It travels about 20 miles per hour .It looks like hard work ,but hopping(单脚跳) actually let’s the Kangroo conserve(保存保藏) more energy than other animal could when running on four legs . In fact up to a certain point the faster a Kangaroo goes the more energy it conserves .Rather than taking more hops to increase speed ,the Kangroo makes the length of each jump longer.;lqA6JO/B u"L
Let’s stop here for a minute .Take a look over on your right at this group of Kangaroos resting .Can you see that their ears are moving ?Hearing may well be the Kangroos’s most important sense . Their two large ears can move independtly so sometime one ear is pointing forward and the other toward the rear Kangaroos’ eyesight is also excellent . They have a wide field of vision and like most grazing(放牧) animals ,they are especially good at detecting movment .
{ lfW0m,] Before we move on I’lll like to piont out more thing .If you look closely you can see a joey that’s a baby Kangaroo peering (窥视)out of its mother’s pouch(育儿袋) .Before long that joey(幼兽) will be out of pounch for good .The mother will push it out by the time it’s eight month old.

生物第十二篇(frog)
*{y4t$L tBtj If you like the colorful animals we just saw you’re going to love these next animals frogs .You might not normally think of fog as being colorful but these frogs definitly are .They are the dark –pioson frogs of central and south American. Look at their striking colors —often yellow with black stripes(条纹) or deep blue with black spots(斑点) .
VwBY*`9UL SX Beyound being nice to look at these markings have a purpose ,They warn predators that these frogs are piosonous when threatened these frogs secrete a substance through their skin that would easily kill whatever animal might try to eat them .Their bright colors communicate this and so most animal tend not to hunt them .
p$C+@d8D$Y6M Now speaking of hunting for centuries these frogs were sough(seek) after by hunters. Aa you might think the hunter don’t want to eat the frogs but rather they captured them for their pioson they would add the poison to the tips of their hunting arrows(箭) of course nowadays most hunters use gun .i f?"D{+_q[
These days dark –pioson frogs are of less interest to hunter than to medical reseachers. Researchers believe that they can make new heart medicine from poison because it acts as a stimulant(刺激物) on the body’s nervouvs systerm .Reseacher think they could use it to stimulant a weak heart.
y*O j|,Vz There is however a problem with doing research on these frogs .Those that are caught in the wild will perduce their pioson until the die .However those that are born in captivity(被囚禁) like the ones you see here will not produce any pioson at all.M/I [h)`;}C
