173 It is sometimes said that borrowing money from a friend can harm or damage the friendship. Do you agree? Why or why not? Use reasons and specific examples to explain your answer.
Can borrowing money from a friend harm or damage the friendship? The answer to this question differs from individual to individual. Some people hold the opinion that borrowing money from a friend can harm the friendship. Others, however, contradict that people should not borrow money from their friend. In my opinion, I strongly agree that, in order to keep friendship with the friends, we should not borrow money from the friends.
There are many reasons why I do not agree borrow money from a friend, and I will explain some important ones. The main reason is that borrowing money from my friend may lead to financial burden to my friend. For example, only under special circumstance when people need a lot of money in the short time, do they need borrow money from their friends. First they do not know whether their friend has enough free money to lend. Maybe their friend just needs money to do something as well. It is very hard to choice whether lending money to the friend or not. Because if their friend did not lend money to them, it would affect their friendship. But their friend’s life must be influenced by lending money to them. There is no doubt that borrowing money from a friend is not smart choice.
The second reason is that borrowing money contributes to distrust between friends. We can image a circumstance that we can not borrow money from a friend. What would you consider your friend? Maybe you would think he or she must have free money. Furthermore you may realize it is unfair is due to you help your friend a lot before. It does damage the friendship between you and your friend.
In addition, borrowing money can make a friend feel unequal status. For instance, you would feel your friend should obey your order when you are arguing something, because you lent money to your friend. It does not benefit for your friendship.
In short, after understanding the reasoning above, we may safely draw the conclusion that borrowing money from a friend would damage friendship.
